Simply put, John believes that core values are the most untapped and impactful strategy in the hands of every leader … more precisely in their core. In turn, John is inspiring a movement for C-level leaders in the position of CEO, COO, CFO, CIO and beyond to harness the potential they already hold to genuinely lead.
Today, everything that John does is about core values. Most would say that’s just who he is.
It’s just not where he started.
In 1996, John left behind an 18-year career he loved … a career that had taken him from CPA to worldwide recruiting responsibilities at Arthur Andersen. From there, he would follow his dream as a professional speaker to reach audiences in 10 countries on 3 continents. That journey would earn John the National Speakers Association’s recognition as a Certified Speaking Professional. It is the highest earned designation in the speaking profession and is held by less than 10% of the members of the International Speakers Federation.
But for John, it has never really been about speaking. It has been about the message.
Never has this been more true than it is today.
In 1996, his speaking journey began with a focus on leadership. Not the surface-level mechanics of leadership, but what was essential underneath. John has always been convinced that leadership has so much more to do with WHO you are rather than WHAT you do. The evolution of his own professional journey and his message reflects this more today than ever.
John’s intense focus on leadership eventually led to his belief that it is imperative for leaders to be intensely focused on core values. The seeds of this evolution were planted in his experience of writing his first book, Silent Alarm: A Parable of Hope for Busy Professionals. But it became more than a message in the writing of his second book, GOOD to the CORE: Building Value with Values. It became his mission. John is convinced that, for far too long, we have been working on everything but the right thing. He believes surface-level solutions will never deliver the natural alignment, authentic engagement and genuine service so needed in today’s marketplace. He has no doubt it is only at the intersection of personal and organizational core values that we will find long-term possibilities delivered in short order.
If you aren’t serious about core values then you don’t want John Blumberg anywhere nearby. But if you are, you will find John Blumberg to be an incredible resource and an endless encouragement by your side.
The bottom-line is that becoming strategic about the potential of core values is what John Blumberg is all about.
