Fernand is a native of Trois-Rivières. In 1947, following a postal distribution of New Testaments , pastors came to visit the Fernand parents. Shortly after, the family members have agreed to live by the precepts of the Lord found in the scriptures.
The meetings began at the parents’ home of Fernand, who had recently converted to the gospel. Thus the Assembly of Cap-de-la-Madeleine was born. One Thursday morning, April 10, 1947, Fernand opened the New Testament of his father. He read all the verses highlighted in red who spoke of free salvation of God. But it is the text of John 3:17 and 18 that made him pray to God.
” God sent his Son into the world not to condemn the world, but for it to be saved by Him. Whoever puts his trust in Him is not condemned, but whoever does not have faith in him is condemned already because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God . ”
Fernand asked God in sincere prayer, that the Lord Jesus Christ to become his personal Savior .
Later, Fernand exercised several functions in his local congregation, he was teacher and Sunday school superintendent; deacon; responsible for local and provincial youth meetings. His secular job was to work in the dispatch office of a paper factory.
